When walking through the cages with Cees you are in need of an extra pair of eyes. Everything looks absolutely perfect and clean, since he cleans it all with his own two hands. But it is not only the cages that are looking marvelous, the pigeons themselves all look beautiful and well taken care off. Cees believes that people are born a pigeonlover, and his eyes gleam when he starts talking about his old memories. From an early age, Cees was, together with his borther Bertus, helping his father Arie taking care of the pigeons. Arie has been involved with these lovely birds for eighty years. The seed was planted, and his passion for pigeons has never diminished, while he managed, at the same time, to not let his passion overtake his good sense of business. At first, he started with the more quicker work and he bought many pigeons directly from Janssen and Arendonk. Later, his passion for the big Fond took over. The first Fondpigeon was the famous “ This bird was bought for a big amount of money, but Cees was not willing to make any compromises. This is still an apparent characteristic of Cees nowadays, when he sees a marvelous pigeon, he is willing to pay the money for it. Like another person might invest his/her money in a Rubens, or a van Gogh, Cees only enjoys life when he is walking through his own pigeons cages, filled with great pigeons. He says that the most beautiful part about pigeons is to breed them and the look for birds that would make a great pair of young birds together. The red thread through all of this, is a very special stockpair that originated from a son of “Oud Doffertje” of Van de Wegen and a daughter of “Oud Doffertje There were also multiple children from “Oud Doffertje” who moved to Cees and also from the marvelous 16. Cees alwasy kept his passion up to date, for example when he managed to get a hand on the national winner of Dax Perpigan (mother bred by Cees) and Pau in the years ‘95/’96. In 1998 he bought all the good breeders and winning pigeons of the late national marathonchampion Jan van den Ende. This was a marvelous move, since the basis at Van den Ende were old pure Van der Wegens, together with a daughter of de Witbuik of Batenburg. In 2000 Cees bought seventeen more pigeons at Gebr, Kuijpers, Neer among witch two sons of Zwartje (2nd Nat. Barcelona), son of Don Leo (2nd Nat. NPO Cahors), half-brother Zwartje, half-brother Beatrix, etc. He also managed to buy “Super Dax”, who was, in the year 2000, cronwed as best Fondpigeon of the This was his very best purchase together with Vos de Bijter.

Hagens, Lady Perpignan Rik Stevens, parents of Maestro and Miss Barcelona Houtekamer and Barca 216 of Theo van Riet. This created a breeding cage that no-one has ever seen before. In a short period of time, Cees has managed to succed many times on the big Fond. But more importantly is his reputation as a supplier of superpigeons! Cees has never been stingy about his pigeons. Friends have always been allowed to take anything they wanted, and they are are now making excellent things happen because of Cees’ generosity.
